Boucherouite carpets

Boucherouite rugs get their name from the Moroccan/Arabic word bu sherwit, which means 'pieces of scraps of cloth'.

The rugs are all handmade from fabric and clothing scraps, and are characterized by the small skews and uneven edges.

Some of the rugs are called Boujaad - and these rugs are made from thinner pieces of fabric - and often mixed with areas of the rug with thicker pieces of fabric. This gives a nice look while also making the rug lighter than the typical Boucherouite rugs.
