Hvad er historien bag de skønne marokkanske vintage tæpper?

What is the story behind the beautiful Moroccan vintage rugs?

What characterizes many of the Moroccan vintage carpets?

Did you know that the Moroccan vintage rugs are often heirlooms from the Berber nomadic tribes and are between 5 and 50 years old when they arrive in Denmark.

The vintage carpets sold by Casa W are handwoven in the Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco - and typically come from the Beni MQuild or Beni Ourain/Mamousha tribes. The rugs are made from 100 percent sheep's wool that is naturally dyed and the beauty of the rugs is the color combination - a palette of muted shades that have faded over time. The rugs are full of beautiful shapes and symbolism. Each individual rug tells its own story, based on a strong tribal tradition and the weaver's story.

It is often women who weave the carpets. With creativity, they mix elements from nature and everyday life into the carpet's expression. It is said that the weaving is the way the women educate themselves, especially mathematically. It is one of the few ways they can express themselves and tell their personal story to the outside world. Moroccan carpets are therefore a proud and authentic piece of Morocco's cultural heritage.
